Opening: Sun 13.04. 11:00
The topic of peace is unfortunately more relevant today than it has been for decades, especially because of its opposite, war. The exhibition “Peace – Mir” focuses on what artists associate with the term “peace” and presents contemporary works on the topic. It primarily takes the perspective of those for whom peace currently represents only a utopia, a state far removed from their own realities. To this end, the Bruder Klaus Museum has invited artists from Ukraine to exhibit their works in Sachseln. These works will be complemented by works by Swiss artists.
The exhibition aims to demonstrate the complexity of this highly topical topic. In this context, peace is something very personal, and its interpretation is highly individual. The approaches range from political works to works of grief management to identity-forming works of remembrance culture. The historic rooms of the Bruder Klaus Museum and the museum garden reveal a diverse panorama of artistic approaches and forms, all of which encourage reflection on peace and its significance.
